About Tymmarah Anderson

I am a graduate from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and a minor in Informatics. While I am still developing my expertise, I enjoy, and happen to be notably good at, research and communications. From finding a person on social media, to a covert newspaper article that supports a thesis, I find joy in the search and discovery of new information as well as the compilation and interpretation of my findings and data.

Due to this interest in research and data, I have written many articles related to the humanities, typically addressing issues of inequality, discrimination, and other minority affairs. The topics I cover tend to be abstract, but totally applicable to the world around us. You can check them out here! More recently, I completed a dissertation on hazing in Black greek letter organizations. Discussing a topic such as this one is often seen as taboo, but not discussing it could lead to a state of detriment within the black community. So, I took a chance. You can view the project here!

Term papers are not my only indulgence, as I do often write poetry as well. My interest peaked in high school, and since, I have competed in various competitions and won many awards for my writing. In 2015, I was granted the opportunity to perform my award winning solo, "Terrorists" at the infamous Louder than a Bomb Chicago Finals. Below are some of the awards I have been granted over the years:

-
Dartmouth College Book Award 2014
-
Silver Key Scholastic Art and Writing Award 2014
