This past semester, I completed my senior capstone project -- an extensive paper, film, or other creative avenue on a topic that is anthropological but also matters to the individual. I decided to discuss hazing in greek letter organizations, specifically historically Black Greek Letter Organization (BGLOs). As a member of a Divine Nine (D9) organization, I hope to, through this project, raise awareness of both the history, transformation, and effects of our organizations in order to save them from extinction.
Other Projects
In 2011, I joined the Spoken Word Club of Oak Park River Forest High School after discovering I could never play basketball again at my full potential, due to an injury. Since, I have competed in various competitions such as Louder Than a Bomb, won various writing awards and scholarships, and have been published in a few local poetry books.
Over the years, I have written many articles, essays, and dissertations on various topics concerning humanitarian issues. From deconstructing racial stereotypes in print media, Disney, and music, to analyzing the ways in which other countries view America, these are some of the most creative essays written in the history of essays!
More recently, I have taken some real strides in my career. I joined the content and marketing team at Neighborhoods.com as an intern, and I also became a contributing writer for the online platform, The Pedestal Project. Because of these opportunities, I've mastered the art of on-site copy and blogs.
